Connect a school project with Telkom and Idols SA

20 October 2015

Telkom, through the Telkom Foundation, will be giving away a total of R900 000 worth of ICT connectivity – R300 000 each to three schools South Africans nominated for this incredible opportunity to assist learners.

The Idols have encouraged Idols SA fans to nominate the school that they would like to support through the Idols Facebook pages. The announcement resulted in an overwhelming response with the public nominating more than 500 worthy schools. As a result of the phenomenal feedback, Telkom has decided to extend the closing period to Tuesday, 20 October 2015.

This initiative was announced live on the show on Sunday, 18 October, opening up the opportunity for nominations to even more people as Telkom's objective is to find the neediest schools. The nominated schools can be based in any part of the country.

From the list of nominated schools Telkom, through its Foundation, will select the Top 10 schools most nominated by the public. A set of criteria will then be used to select the Top 5 most deserving schools from the 10 most-nominated, and those Top 5 will be visited for physical evaluation by a team from the Foundation.

The Top 3 schools will then be chosen after the physical evaluation.

The connectivity will comprise of:

Get behind this incredible initiative and get your friends and family to nominate the neediest school they know. Some have voices that can make them Idols – others need our voices to help them get an education!
