  1. Will Telkom Foundation sponsor my child''s upcoming ballroom dancing tour overseas?

  2. Im looking for funding from Telkom Foundation. We want to paint a childrens ward at our local hospital. Will you supply funding to us?

  3. I have previously received funding from the Foundation. Now however I was told that it does not fit in with the Telkom Foundation Strategy. What does that mean?
    • In 2011 the Telkom Foundation adjusted its Strategy to allign closer to that of its Donor organisation: Telkom. As such we have streamlined our Vision and Mission and no longer support certain categories and donations.

      We are also in the process of phasing out those contributions not alligned to our vision.

      Please contact the National Department of Social Development and the CSI registrar for a comprehensive list of other Donor companies. They will be able to advise you on which charity or CSI to approach for your specific type of request. (Please check your local listings for contact details).
  4. What are the primary fields that the Foundation contribute to?

  5. I see Telkom is acknowledged as a Level 3 Gold Community Contributor. What does that mean? And why is this important?
    • The National CSI Registrar provides local Public Recognition Listing Platforms(PRLP) within popular newsprint media, focused on commending and acknowledging certified Community Contributors for their generosity to building a better South Africa.

      It is the public recognition, commendation and award of companies for their contributions to charity and social upliftment.

      Showcasing Telkom Foundations Contributor Status achieved will reflect good corporate governance and portray the preferred standard from the Parastatal sector within The Republic of South Africa. Thus embodying the desired vision resonating in the hearts and minds of all South Africans. The levies involved have been fractionally subsidized and the minimal investment required from Telkom SA will provide direction and understanding to the sector as to the expectations set within.

      Mass media consistently objectifies orginisations in which government holds vested interests, portraying an agenda that is negative in fashion, generating a dissatisfied audience. As a Parastatal, Telkoms participation would be of great benefit, enhancing citizen opinion and support.

  7. I see one of the subheadings of the mission of the Telkom Foundation is Support educational institutions in their ability to produce maths, science and technology proficient graduates. How will the Foundation enable that?
    • Working in partnership with schools, government and NGO Provision of enablers such as computers, whiteboards, etc By selecting specific schools to participate in additional Maths, science and technology training. Telkom will from time to time also identify, on merit, students with star potential. Training might occur on school premises or by making use of Telkom's CFL facilities at Olifantsfontein.
  8. How does Telkom Foundation decide upon worthy causes to contribute to?
    • The Foundation is governed by its Trust Deed and its strategy. This is revised from time to time to allign with business and social needs programmes and decided upon.

    • Please refer to a separate table named: REFERRALS elsewhere on this website. You might find that your request will be better supported by another organisation or Government Department. Should this be the case, please contact the appropriate organisation listed for further assistance on your request. Please also note that the recently created CSI registrar has as its long term aim the creation of a separate database/ name list of CSI organisations and the relevant activities they support or get involved with.   10. What is Telkom Blue Flag Emergency
    • Telkom Foundation beliefs in helping communities who temporarily finds themselves unable to cope to due natural disasters. The Blue Flag Emergency program was created to do just that. The foundation provides assistance through food parcels, blankets and any other forms needed to affected communities. The criteria whereby the Foundation decides to donate to a community in need are as follows: - The disaster must have been classified as a disaster. - All natural disasters whose magnitude exceeds the capability of those affected to cope with its effects using only their own resources. - A relevant disaster management framework must be in place for coordination of responses to the emergency - The disaster or emergency must be of such a scale and of such urgency as to call for swift national humanitarian assistance. - The humanitarian relief organisations must request assistance and be in a position to provide effective and swift humanitarian assistance of such a scale to justify a national appeal.
